Mukesh Ambani, the fifth richest man in the world and head of the Mumbai based petrochemical giant Reliance Industries is estimated to be worth some where in the region of $43 billion. He is also the owner to-be of a 27-story skyscraper in downtown Mumbai that is to cost him colossal $2 billion!
When you’ve got so much money you have to come up with ideas on how to spend it. Exactly this happened while his wife was staying in the Mandarin Oriental in New York, back in 2005. Nita Ambani was so impressed with the interior Asian style decor that she wanted something similar for her to live in.
Her inquiries about the designer soon led to the next step; drawing up plans done with expertise by architecture firm Perkins & Will and Hirsch Bedner Associates, the designers behind the Mandarin Oriental.
What resulted from that is the world’s largest and most expensive home ever. We have covered this in a past post but wanted to deliver some updated information. Every storey Antilla’s skyscraper home will be built to a different specification. The vast variation of materials to be used in it’s build has tremendously added to its overall cost.
Based on Indian tradition Vaastyu, Antilla’s energy will move through the building in a beneficial way for all residents.
The first six floors alone will be dedicated to parking for the Ambani family and their guests
The health level incorporates jacuzzi, yoga studio, dance studio, gyms, changing rooms for his and hers, a juice bar, solarium and perhaps even an ice room to cool off in on hot Indian monsoon months.
The entertainment level includes a fully sized theatre, where movie buffs can keep entertained in its snack bar, wine room and a space dedicated to entertaining.
The lounges, bathrooms and bedrooms are simply astounding. If you think you know luxury, think again as only the finest and best is used to delight every sense.
A ballroom has a show stopping feature; a crystal chandelier that takes up about 80% of the ceiling. It further includes a stage, projection screen and a massive hidden kitchen that can cater to hundreds of guests.
The lobby alone has nine elevators designed to serve all kinds of purposes. Two are designated for parking lots, two for the Ambani family, two for service and three for all the guest quarters.
On the top floor Ambani is planning to entertain clients and guest with panoramic vistas over Mumbai.
All up, there will be 400,000 square feet of entertainment space.
The building process which has been going on for some time will last some time still. The meticulous planning that has gone into this architectural design is astounding and once the 27 story tower is built it will certainly become a spectacular site for all eyes.
